half.alive took over Summit Music Hall in Denver on 5/11/23 with an incredible show, one that had been sold out for some weeks prior. Roxann Rene for Sound Rebel Magazine was there to capture it all. Touring in support of their new full album Conditions of a Punk. The album, released in December of 2022, contains songs from their EP released in the fall of 2022, at which time they were touring in support of twenty-one pilots on their successful and much anticipated Town Takeover Tour, which also included four Denver stops in September 2022.

Record rainfall and flooded streets in downtown Denver on 5/11/23 did not deter a sold out crowd from making it out to the Denver stop on half.alive ‘s Conditions of a Punk tour.

The band delighted the crowd with an auditory and visually spectacular performance that they have become known for. The packed house delighted in the 25 song set of their favorites, including an in-stage duet with Tessa Violet on “Never Been Better, and of course their smash hit, “Still Feel.”

Tour support from Tessa Violet helped to stoke the crowds energy before the band took the stage, and the energy that half.alive band provided when taking the stage would only increase throughout the night as the crowd enjoyed tune after tune of the band’s unique sound.

The set kicked off as the band took the stage behind a backlit curtain, and the crowd watched with anticipation as they took the stage and performed a stunning shadow display of singer Josh Taylor on the mic and keys, swirling lights, band silhouettes, and the energy of their tunes set the tone for the night, and set the tone for a set that kept fans cheering and eagerly awaiting each unique song.

Removing the curtain and revealing the band and stage setup with the second song of the night, Summerland, the sold out crowd cheered. As the set continued, the crowd could be heard singing along with every word. Both the melodic and lyrical content of their songs, deep and multi layered, are perfectly paired in their live show with, as in their music videos, visually choreographed movement, making for a multilayered sensory experience for one to experience in person.

Their set was a visual delight of symmetry, form, and motion as much as it was an auditory treat of melody and verse. Catch them on tour now with support from Tessa Violet. I would highly recommend you attend a show this tour if you would like to see them at a more intimate venue, because if the crowds excitement is any indication, they will likely be wowing larger crowds and venues in the near future.
