August Burns Red - 20th Anniversary Tour

August Burns Red, veterans of the metalcore scene and arguably one of the best out there, is celebrating 20 years as a band, and touring the US to share in that celebration with their fans. On top of this powerhouse tour, the boys in ABR are set to release “Death Below” Pre-Order Here (set to be out March 24, 2023) and released the first single “Backfire”. To round out the tour, the boys in ABR brought with them The Devil Wears Prada (TDWP) and Bleed From Within (all the way from Glasgow, Scotland) on their first ever US Tour.

John Indiveri for Sound Rebel Magazine was able to catch the SOLD OUT Ft. Lauderdale stop which was the 5th show of the tour, and on heels of the inaugural Heart Support Festival - a festival started by Jake Luhrs of August Burns Red to bring awareness to mental health and the challenges surrounding it. Both The Devil Wears Prada and Bleed From Within performed at the festival.

Bleed from Within opened the show in Ft. Lauderdale with the same brutal force they did at HeartSupport, starting the evening out with “I Am Damnation” off their recent record Shrine. Now, normally with opening bands and especially those that have never toured in the US before, the crowd would either be light - or not know much about the opener. This definitely was not the case with Bleed From Within! The Rev was packed, the mosh pit was surging and the fans were screaming their songs. Frontman Scott Kennedy is a lively one (the whole band is, really), with an enormous stage presence and energy you might find bottled up inside an energy drink. One highlight of the evening was Scott jumping into the crowd during the last song, and crowd surfing. To top that off however, he made his way surfing the crowd over to a young girl in the ADA area to give her a fist bump! Next up was The Devil Wears Prada (TDWP). In keeping with the energy theme - holy cow! This was my 3rd time seeing TDWP live (the second time in as many days). As a photographer, it’s always a challenge capturing live performances - especially in a 400-500 cap venue. TDWP didn’t make it any easier! But I love a good challenge. Every member of the band made good use of the stage, interacting with fans, and playing their hearts out.
